Has anyone else listened to Adrian Belew's "Side One"?

Adrian Belew was the guitarist for King Crimson, and has played with plenty of other bands on over a hundred albums in the last 20 years (his discography page made my jaw drop).

Anyways, he's got this Three-CD series (Side One/Two/Three). Side One and Side Two are out already, Side Three is tentatively aimed for winter of this year.

Now, you may be asking, "What the fuck does this have to do with Danny Carey?". Everything.

The dream team working on these three albums is:
Adrian Belew - Guitar and Vocals
Danny Carey - Drums and Percussion
Les Claypool - Bass

I heard Ampersand, the first track off Side One, several months ago (there was an article about it in DRUM! magazine, with the tabs and an interview with The Great DC. However, i just now downloaded the full album, and let me tell you what. This is the shit.

Very largely instrumental, very experimental/odd. For the most part, it makes no sense, but its fucking amazing. And as far as the drums are concerned: WOW. I would argue that this stuff is better than anything we've heard from Danny Carey in his songs with Tool. Yes, even Ticks And Leeches. Its fucking ridiculous.

I would definitely reccomend this album to anyone with ears. I'm going to go out and buy it asap.

If you have yet to hear it, and would like to, feel free to AIM me for the album (or to talk about anything. I dont care). SN: TyTy of 3D

Yeah. Wow.

Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check it out. May try and catch you on IM since they closed the only record store near my house that might actually have that in stcok :/
I sent you a message on AIM. :)
Good info to know.
Better than his drumming in Tool? Please. Not trying to say I despised the record, not at all, but I don't think those should be compared.
I've listened to Side One quite a bit, and i know most of tool's drums pretty damn well, and i still have to say the stuff on Side One is better.

I mean, it's been 4 years since Lateralus. You don't think he got any better in 5 years?

Even so, it is really fucking close, and all of his stuff makes my jaw drop. He is, very easily, one of the greatest modern drummers.
